A fool-proof, homemade guacamole recipe that’s easy to make, and uses fresh, high quality ingredients. Authentic guacamole doesn’t contain fillers and unnecessary ingredients. All you need is avocados, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice, coriander and salt. Easy and completely irresistible!
Ingredients
- 4 medium ripe avocados, halved & pitted
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 small jalapeño, seeds and ribs removed, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp fresh lime juice (from about 1 1/2 limes), or more if needed
- 1/4 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt, more to taste
- 1/2 medium onion—chunk for preserving avocado
Instructions
- Cut avocados in half, remove pits, and use a spoon to scoop the flesh into a bowl. Discard any bruised or brown areas. Use a fork to mash up the avocado until it reaches desired texture.
- Add the cilantro, jalapeño lime juice, coriander, and salt. Stir to combine.
- Taste and add additional salt or lime juice as needed.
- Use half a chunk of onion to store on top of the guacamole along with a cover or plastic wrap until ready to serve. This helps preserve the freshness!
Notes:
Depending on the size of the avocados, this recipe may need more salt or lime juice so make sure to do a taste test before serving. There are also plenty of recipe variations — if tomatoes are in season, finely chopped tomatoes are a great addition. For a fruity guacamole, chopped ripe mango is very tasty! Finely chopped red or white onions can be a great addition. Experiment with different spices— try adding some cumin, chili powder and spike, rather than coriander and salt. It’s also great with or without the jalapeño!
