An easy recipe for Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread that’s loaded with chunks of fresh apple, and filled with a ribbon of cinnamon sugar swirl, this quick bread is a must make fall treat!
Ingredients
Cinnamon Swirl:
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup walnuts*, chopped

Batter:
- 2 cups flour (1 cup whole wheat pastry and 1 cup all-purpose)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup cane sugar
- 1 cup milk of choice (non-dairy or not)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tbsp safflower oil
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup honeycrisp apple, diced small (or apple of choice)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350℉. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan. In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon swirl ingredients and set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and cane sugar. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together milk, egg, applesauce, oil and vanilla.
- Add liquid mixture to flour mixture and gently stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apple. Careful not to over mix.
- Pour half of the batter into loaf pan. Sprinkle with 2/3 cup of the cinnamon swirl mixture. Pour remaining batter on top of the mixture and spread out using a rubber spatula. top with remaining cinnamon swirl mixture. use a knife to make a large swirl throughout the batter.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes, covering loosely with tin foil after 30 minutes to prevent the top from getting too brown. Check if it’s done by inserting a knife in the center of the loaf. Cool in loaf pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
